The Rainforest Ride is a mass participation road cycling event with four different rides to suit all types of cyclists, from a challenging 140km circuit to a tranquil 23km journey, all amidst the magnificent Otway Rainforest in and around Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road.

Adelaide dad amongst the leading fundraisers

Adelaide father, Dave Schultz jumped out of the pedals early to lead the interstate fundraising charge before recently being pipped by NSW mum, Sue Schmich. A very keen cyclist, raising money for the Burnet Institute’s fight against The ‘Big Three’: HIV, TB and malaria was also a motivating force for Dave to sign up for the inaugural event.

Freak storm leads to cycling passion for Andrea Fischer

A freak accident during a wild Melbourne storm was the impetus for Burnet’s Andrea Fischer discovering a hidden passion – cycling. “Two years ago a huge wattle tree fell on my garage during a storm, collapsing the roof and crushing my old Mazda 323,” she said.“Overnight, cycling became a very good transport option!” she quipped. “It was a definite sign.”And so began an involvement with cycling that has morphed into a 20km commute to Burnet’s Headquarters in Prahran each day.
