What is the Rainforest Ride ?
The Rainforest Ride is a mass participation road cycling event with four different rides to suit all types of cyclists, from a challenging 140km circuit to a tranquil 23km journey, all amidst the magnificent Otway Rainforest in and around Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road.

Entries for all rides are now open with interest coming from near and far. Although it’s not a race, there will be plenty of spot prizes and give aways for all participants who fundraise and your entry fee includes an event t-shirt and goodie bag. Click here to enter
The course
There are fours different courses with each ride providing incredible scenery the whole way, with the premier 140km Rainforest Circuit already being described as ‘The most spectacular road riding loop in the country’. This is cycling the way it should be, traffic free and out in the wilderness. Click here to read more
Start Times
There will be scheduled start times for each ride that allow friends to ride together or join the larger groups of riders doing each event. The schedule also allows you to do the event as part of a day trip from Melbourne, or you could make a weekend of it and stay in Apollo Bay on Friday and/or Saturday night. Click here to read more
Rules and Safety
The Rainforest Ride is a mass participation recreational ride - not a race! Yes, some riders will go fast and some will go slow, but the event is based around the fun and enjoyment of cycling in a very beautiful part of the world – whilst helping raise funds for the Burnet Institute. Travel and Accommodation
Apollo Bay is less than 2.5hrs drive from Melbourne (inland route is faster) making the event possible to do as a day trip from Melbourne. Alternatively, Apollo Bay is a great holiday township and the mid point of the Great Ocean Road, with a terrific range of accommodation, food and services if you want to make a weekend of it.
